As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we are a part of one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with more than 3 million members across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region. The ELCA emphasizes the saving grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, unity among Christians, and service in the world. The ELCA's roots are in the writings of the German church reformer Martin Luther.
Lutheran teachings emphasize a deep curiosity towards God's movement in the world. From the beginning, "Always Reforming," has been a common motto to help us stay focused on where God is calling us. At Spirit Alive!, we lean into this by being open to the new things God is doing through us and our neighbors. Following this call takes many forms, from Bible study to serving in the community.
Mission:
Vision:
At Spirit Alive! we celebrate that God created us to be unique, that Jesus speaks to us in different ways, and the Spirit challenges each of us in new and exciting ways. Whether you were raised in a Lutheran church, come from a different tradition, or have never been to church but feel some calling you can’t explain, you are welcome at Spirit Alive! There’s no right way to dress or right moves you have to know. We come because we believe God is transforming us and the world. You are welcome here.
Our congregational core values are:
Welcoming everyone's full, authentic self.
Including everyone in the full life of Spirit Alive!
Meaningful, relevant, "come as you are" worship.
Reaching out to our community and world.
Intentionally Spirit-led/Spirit-driven.
