EASTER VIGIL - AN ECUMENICAL SERVICE
5:00 PM @ Mount Pleasant - 1700 S. Green Bay Rd, Racine, WI
What is Easter Vigil?
Also referred to as Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil serves as a space of holy waiting for the joy of the resurrection. The service begins around a fire, symbolizing the light of Christ.
Old & New Testament readings lead us through the story of God’s promises, from death to new life. Songs accompany each reading. We celebrate the resurrection with an affirmation of baptism & communion.
This is a traditionally long service! A safe time estimate is two hours of a mix of sitting and standing, with some walking at the very beginning. This service is an ecumenical (meaning “unity between churches”) work of several Racine/Kenosha area Episcopal and Lutheran churches.
