SPIRIT ALIVE IS MIGRATING

COME JOIN THE FLOCK AT NEW LOCATION – ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN ON 37TH AVE.

Kenosha, WI – July 2017

Spirit Alive Church excitedly announces its upcoming move into space rented from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 8760 37th Ave. in Kenosha.  The two congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will share space at St. Paul’s building, worshipping at different times on Sunday mornings and continuing to respond to the spirit in their own unique ways.  St. Paul’s will continue to worship at 9 am and Spirit Alive’s contemporary praise band leads 10:45 worship beginning on Sunday August 6th

Pastor Karen Pahl of St. Paul’s says, “This is a wonderful occasion to come together and provide the greater community around our area with the love of Jesus in a new and exciting way. We also hope this new arrangement will provide an opportunity for two churches now in one building to share their joy, faith and fellowship with the community they love to welcome and serve.”

Pastor Jennifer Carlson of Spirit Alive explains, “A small joint committee of the two congregations, including the pastors, has been working for months to make the sharing of space a reality.  We even had a one month trial in March to understand the possibilities and pitfalls.  It is great to see God’s people living out their faith in two separate congregations sharing one location.  We hope this uncommon arrangement will be a win-win for the congregations and the community they serve.”

Christina Oldani, Spirit Alive’s Music Director says, “I’m looking forward to the move because our praise band, audio-visual personnel, and I will no longer need to set up and tear down as much equipment each weekend.  Without a dedicated location, the weekly routine of setup/teardown wore on our musicians, volunteers and equipment over the years.”

Stan Livermore, one of Spirit Alive’s members on the Shared Space Team puts it this way, “Sharing space is an exciting, door-opening event in Spirit Alive's life.  We will finally have a 24/7/365 home in a building designed for a church rather than a school or recreation center!  We will have space for an office, meetings, fellowship events, music rehearsals, small group gatherings, youth activities and worship.  Let's see what God can do with us from here!”

Judy Ginkowski, one of St. Paul’s members on the Shared Space Team says, “I have really enjoyed getting to know and working with the Spirit Alive people as we spent many hours planning for this joint venture.  It is invigorating to feel the Spirit moving as we come together to share not only our physical building, but our church home.  Welcome, Spirit Alive!”

St. Paul’s is hosting a National Night Out event for the public and law enforcement with food, games, prizes, entertainment and a chance to meet your neighbors on Tuesday August 1st from 5-8 pm at the church.  Come meet the welcoming people that Spirit Alive has come to know at St. Paul’s.  Then come back on Sunday August 6th at 9 am for St. Paul’s worship or 10:45 for Spirit Alive’s worship or sample both of our worship styles in the same space!
